Research Consent

Welcome to RRU Commons

RRU Commons is a platform owned and managed by Royal Roads University through the Centre for Creative Changemaking. Before you complete your registration, please read the following information carefully.

Research Participation

This community is part of a research study titled “Prototyping a University-Owned Social Media Platform as a Space of Learning, Community, and Changemaking ,” led by Dr. Amy Zidulka at Royal Roads University. The study has been approved by the Royal Roads University Research Ethics Board.

By joining this community, you are also agreeing to participate in the research. Here is what that means:

What data will be collected: The research will collect data on patterns of engagement within the community, for example, what types of events or discussions attract participation. It will not collect or analyze the content of what you say within the community, and your views on the topics discussed will not be used as research data.

Surveys and interviews: You may be invited to complete a short survey about your experience as a community member at certain points during the study. A small number of members may also be invited to participate in a research interview. Both are voluntary.

Identifiability: When research findings are published or presented publicly, you will be identified only by your role and will not be individually identifiable. When findings are shared internally at Royal Roads, some participants may be more identifiable depending on their role or organizational affiliation. The consent form below explains this in more detail.

Your right to withdraw: You may withdraw from the research by contacting Dr. Amy Zidulka at amy.zidulka@royalroads.ca. Withdrawal is possible up until the time data analysis has begun.
